Introduction

Chrono Network introduces a groundbreaking decentralized cryptocurrency designed to seamlessly scale across global commerce.

As a merge-mined network of blockchains, Chrono Network coordinates an infinite number of blockchains (execution shards) through the innovative Proof-of-Entropy-Minima (PoEM) consensus mechanism. PoEM eliminates consensus-based contention, enabling the network to process over 50,000 transactions per second. The architecture features a composable multithreaded execution environment, producing blocks approximately every 1.1 seconds in a 9-shard construction.

All blockchains within the network can transfer and receive state through merged mining, asynchronously creating hash linked references between chains. Chrono Network extends traditional work-based block production to facilitate transfers between blockchains without introducing new trusted validation mechanisms.

With the capability for dynamic sharding, Chrono Network achieves truly infinite scalability by adding more execution shards as demand for block space increases. This approach allows Chrono Network to support low-cost day-to-day transactions as the user-base grows indefinitely.

In addressing scalability issues while maintaining decentralization, Chrono Network establishes an uncensorable network that serves as a universally applicable digital currency.

Key Features: Hierarchical Merged Mining: Chrono Network organizes all its blockchains into a three-tiered network hierarchy. Miners are required to simultaneously mine three blockchains within the network. Merged mining not only enhances throughput but also utilizes hash recycling to secure multiple blockchains, resulting in mining efficiency up to 10,000 times more energy-efficient†.

Multithreaded Execution: Traditional blockchains often struggle to meet market demand, leading to high gas fees during peak usage. Chrono Network introduces multithreaded blockchain execution, significantly expanding the available block space across interconnected blockchains. With multithreaded execution, Chrono Network can process over 50,000 transactions per second.

Infinite Scalability: Utilizing the Proof-of-Entropy-Minima consensus mechanism, which eliminates contention from consensus, Chrono Network achieves consensus while seamlessly coordinating an ever-growing number of execution shards. This unique feature enables Chrono Network to algorithmically add execution shards to meet continually increasing demand. The only tradeoff for expanding execution shards (and consequently increasing throughput) is a slightly extended time to global settlement.
